SCORING PROCEDURES
Judging Panel
BravO!’s judging panels are comprised of qualified competition studio directors,
teachers affiliated with major studios/professional dance centers, and/or currently
performing dance professionals. This mixture of age, breadth of dance experience,
and extensive background in performing arts contribute to the diverse range of
feedback our judges will offer all competitors. Please note: The decisions of the
judges are final and represent their professional opinions, not necessarily those of
BravO! management or staff.
Scoring Procedures & Adjudication
Judges will score and critique each routine as it happens. Each judge awards up to
100 points based on the following criteria:
• TECHNIQUE: 40 percent
• PERFORMANCE: 30 percent
• MUSICALITY/TIMING: 20 percent
• CHOREOGRAPHY: 10 percent
The total number of available points to be scored per routine is 300. Platinum, Elite
High Gold, High Gold, Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards will be given out during each
competition. This adjudication is assigned by the overall score a routine receives
based on the following point system:
• PLATINUM: 300-285
• ELITE HIGH GOLD: 284.9-270
• HIGH GOLD: 269.9-255
• GOLD: 254.9-240
• SILVER: 239.9-225
• BRONZE: 224.9-210
All competitors are adjudicated on the same point scale by our judging panel. A 6
point adjustment curve (addition) will be applied to competitors in the Encore!
level and a 12 point adjustment curve (addition) will be applied to the competitors
in the O!verture level.
Scoring Procedures (Title Competition)
Title is a pageant-style performance scored with a separate point system from
adjudication. However, judges will score and critique each title routine
simultaneously as it performs its solo for adjudicated scoring. For Title scores, an
additional criterion of Costume is added to the existing (adjudication) criteria of
Technique, Showmanship, Execution, and Choreography.
Each judge awards up to 100 points for Title based on the following criteria:
• TECHNIQUE: 20 percent
• PERFORMANCE: 20 percent
• EXECUTION: 20 percent
• CHOREOGRAPHY: 20 percent
• COSTUMING: 20 percent
The total number of available points to be scored per routine is 300. Please note:
Title Winners are also eligible to win Overall awards.
Each performance is compensated with the following:
• stage performance time in a professional performance venue
• placement by our panel amongst their peers
• adjudication from 3 professional industry judges
• 3 judges video critiques
• scholarships to future events (top scoring participants)
